Modern Foreign Languages
At St Mary’s students in Key Stage 3 (Years 7 – 9) study either French or Spanish as part of the curriculum.
In Key Stage 4 (Years 10 & 11) students may choose either French or Spanish as one of their GCSE option subjects.
Many students at St Mary’s are able to speak another language(s) in addition to English. If a student is suitably proficient in that language and would like to be considered for entry for a GCSE qualification (where it is available) St Mary’s will support those students with the entry procedures. We feel that it is important to recognise the full potential of our students, including celebrating the diverse nature of our multi-lingual community.
In recent years, in addition to French and Spanish we have entered students for GCSE qualifications in the following languages: Italian, Polish, Portugese, Tamil, Urdu.
